PLUS hiking in the Shenandoah National Park is literally steps from the back door. A waterfall with natural pools is less than a 15 minute hike from the house! Wildlife is commonly seen. And at an elevation of 2,000 feet, even summer is comfortable. Skyline Drive and Luray caverns are close by, and Washington DC is only 90 miles away. Also nearby is the Shendandoah River - one of the most beautiful aspects of the area. Lots of opportunity for fishing, canoeing, kayaking, and floating the river. Luray is less than 10 miles away and Front Royal is also nearby, so restaurants, quaint shopping and wineries are all nearby. This is a must see experience!

Other things to note:
ROAD AND VEHICLE: While the cabin is accessible for a normal car, we HIGHLY recommend a higher clearance vehicle like an SUV. Subaru's and RAV4's are common, but many other vehicles are also on the mountain. We offer an SUV (free of charge) to guests who prefer to use it for the final mile to the cabin.
PETS: Pets are welcome (there is a pet fee). There is a pet disclaimer, so please review policies regarding pets under the House Rules.
AMENITY USE: We work hard to keep everything fully operational, but occasionally appliances & equipment such as dishwashers & hot tubs, etc can malfunction. We will service & restore these amenities as quickly as we can, but will not make any rental concession for time without these items. Please follow all guidelines & policies regarding use of amenities in order to keep them functioning properly.

**Pet Policy - Pet Agreement The mountain is a great place for pets - they love the wildlife and the freedom! A few things are important for you to note and observe, for the safety of your pet and the protection of the cabin. Because these cabins are in the woods, near the Shenandoah National Park, rodents are all around. As you can imagine, guests don’t really want mice in their cabin! So we use Decon mouse poison blocks, positioned in hard to get places (for people). We hide them in high-probability areas for the mouse that wanders in - behind the fridge, in the back recesses of the kitchen cabinets, under the stove, etc. There might be one in a closet or under the bed against the wall. You will want to make sure that your pet doesn't get one and eat it! Bringing your pet to the cabin means you understand that your pet’s safety is your responsibility You agree to keep pets off of the beds and furniture. Please clean up any noticeable pet hair. Finally, please take care that pets don’t track mud onto any carpet or rugs. Guests who bring their pet have a great experience, and if you’ll observe these things, you will too. Lovely, lovely, lovelyyy place, the most beautiful views all throughout the day. The off road drive up there was TERRIFYING for me haha, boyfriend has to take over for that part. By the last day I was having a blast driving up that thing. We frequented Front Royal, the Apple House Was great. & Luray caverns is as great as I remember as when I was a kid

The place you don't want to leave! Starting from elegant cypress trees at the entrance, everything is lovely! We spent most relaxing time there and hopefully will be able to come back during other seasons. Brian was responding to messaages immediately, and kindly let us stay extra time to finish packing and enjoy breakfast on their deck with most amazing view! Thankful to find Overlook Cabin!

What an amazing stay! The combination of the place and location made this my best visit to Shenandoah yet, and I will be returning. The views were incredible, the hosts were responsive and provided excellent information ahead of the trip, and you can't beat a hot tub perched on a ridge overlooking the valley.

This was one of my top Air B&B experiences of all time. The location was stunning and tranquil. The deck faces the valley and is an ideal place to watch the sunset.
The SUV was key to getting up to the property, as the road would have been rough on my car. But it’s the property’s relative isolation that makes the experience so peaceful and quiet. Very private.
The kitchen had everything one would need: two coffee makers, cooking utensils, microwave, fridge, dishes, etc.
The bedrooms were very comfortable with individual a/c units.
I would definitely come here again.

This home is at the top of a mountain which is just what we wanted, walking distance to waterfalls and an awesome view. Brian has AWD vehicles available to get up the mountain if your car is not built for climbing. He is very helpful with this whole process. We had one car that could make it and another that could not. The view was spectacular and sitting on the back deck watching the sunset was a real pleasure. We would stay there again.
